Read moreA beautiful, clever puzzle adventure about language, connection, and what becomes possible when people take the time to understand each other.
Read moreThis year's New Game Plus took place across 16th and 17th April as part of the London Games Festival. It was the second time the event ran and it felt noticeably bigger and more polished than last year, thanks in part to the new venue and a roomier layout. Even so, there was still a bit of that scrappy indie charm that made the first edition so memorable. I only attended on the Thursday but had a great time playing some new to me games and meeting the lovely developers of all of these great games. The show included a couple of stages as well with talks throughout the days. One smaller stage was aimed at students with talks on imposter syndrome for example and stories by people in the industry. The other stage was bigger and had more interviews with developers, such as Peter Molyneux. This was a lovely talk, very open and honest and a lot more positive about the future than I would have expected.

April felt a bit slower on the gaming front for me. I have been putting a lot of energy into building this website, exporting everything from Substack and rebuilding my old content. There are still a lot of changes I want to make and review the review template and how I present and write them. I also am aiming for more relaxed blog posts. I have also been drawing a bit more, and work has been much busier too, which has taken a fair chunk of creativity out of my brain. Even so, I still found time for a few things that stood out. The Good Game Lobby Gaming Club was a true highlight.

Read moreEeek this year I decided to go to Gamescom in Köln. It seemed like a sort of logical next step in terms of gaming events, however I had no idea how big it actually is, so maybe I should have tried to stay more local first. This is a bit of an overview blog, and I will go into details for the indie games I played or liked the look of in a separate post in more detail. :)
